My husband and I went to the same middle school. We were in the same homeroom—our lockers were even right next to each other! After shortly dating in high school, we went to different colleges and before we knew it, 10 years passed where we didn’t speak to each other. One day, I reached out to him to see how he was doing. He asked if we could grab coffee to catch up. We met up for coffee and pretty quickly, the first date transitioned into a second and third date. After the third date, we began dating and a year later, we were engaged!
I went into the bridal store with a few A-line dresses in mind. The associate picked out the dresses and a few other styles. After trying on the A-lines and other dresses, I didn’t get the feeling of “this is most definitely the one”. Disheartened, I let the associate know that I was not taken aback by any of the dresses. She asked me to wait while she brought another dress for me to try on. As I was putting it on, it checked off every box that I was hoping for. The associate told me before I made a decision, she would want to surprise me, my mom, and my mother-in-law. She had us close our eyes as she walked me up to the modeling pedestal. She tucked a veil in my hair and then handed me a bouquet. After a count of 3, she asked us to open our eyes. When I saw myself, I started crying. Immediately after, both my mother and mother-in-law began to cry. It was in this moment that I knew this dress was the one made for me. My Val Stefani dress saved the day and spared me any further frustration in a dress search. I now have my dress preserved, as it is a beautiful piece that I want in my life, and hopefully, my future daughters’ lives!
